I have spent years competing at the top level of trading card games, from regional circuits to multiple World Championships across several titles. Reading a metagame, building a deck nobody sees coming, and holding up under pressure is just how my brain works, and it is the same brain I bring to designing card games now.
My record across four competitive card games, played under the names dango, dango0001, and Anthony Alvarez.
The TEPPEN, Battle Spirits Saga, and Yu-Gi-Oh! clips are feature matches of me. The Dragon Ball Super Card Game clip is official footage.
I never copied a deck. I built my own.
More than the results, competitive play shaped the way I design. I was always the player chasing out-of-the-box concepts, with a heavy emphasis on deck building and finding lines that other people overlooked.
That same habit carries straight into my creative process as a TCG and card game designer. I approach cards from the player's side first: how they combine, where the surprises hide, and what makes a deck genuinely fun to build and pilot.
